First Grade Grading System
Our grades in Jupiter will use this 4,3,2,1 scale.
4 = Advanced
3 = Proficient
2 = Developing
1 = Beginning
A 4 means that the student is scoring 100% on all tests and assessments and is functioning above mastery level. He/She is showing advanced capabilities for the specific skill.
A 3 is considered mastery of the skill which is equal to somewhere between 80-100%. We consider this level to be where a student is showing good understanding and application of the specific skill.
A 2 means that the student is struggling somewhat with the skill either in understanding or application. The student is scoring somewhere between 70-80%.
A 1 means that the student has only a small grasp of the skill and is in need to of support at school or at home. The student is scoring somewhere between a 0-69%.
On our tests you will see a point score that I enter in Jupiter as a percentage. Then Jupiter shows if that falls in the 4, 3, 2, or 1 range.
